“The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I, Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel”
Judges 4:7
The story is told in the Bible of a time when Israel was under the control of a wicked foreign king named Jabin. For twenty years, he via his captain called Sisera mightily oppressed the children of Israel. He had superior military might consisting of nine hundred chariots of iron. Israel was no match for the opposition but little did Sisera know that there was a woman-warrior leading Israel and that through her, God would work out a mighty deliverance for His people.
Insecurity and violence was the order of the day and there was total breakdown of law and order. Then, they cried unto the Lord. That was the turning point in the story. Whenever a people decide to cry to the Lord, the tide of the battle changes positively.
“Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses”
Ps.107:19
Whatever the crisis of life you are faced with, crying unto the Lord is a sure way to accessing victory.
Are you feeling oppressed by the devil? Pray.
Are you feeling depressed over the state of your marriage? Pray
Are you tired of dealing with family matters? Pray.
Are you distressed about your children? Pray.
Are you bothered about your pregnancy? Pray
Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
The children of Israel cried unto the Lord and He answered by sending Deborah as the solution. Many times, the answer to your prayer is tied to a man or a woman somewhere. May the Lord connect you to your destiny helper in Jesus name.
Also, you must realize that you too are the answer to the prayer of a person or people. Your purpose is tied to finding your assignment and the people to whom you are sent. Deborah was the answer to the cry of the Israelites in that generation. Moses was the answer to the cry of the Israelites in Egypt. Jesus is the Answer to the cry of humanity and creation. You are the answer to the cry of this generation.
Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon you.
Isaiah 60:1
She AROSE as a mother in Israel, a warrior mother. Mothers are rising again and you are one of them. Spiritual mother-warriors are marching to the battlefield to contend with the enemies at the gate. They are armed with the armor of God and equipped with the power of the Holy Spirit. They are invincible. They fight for their husbands, sons, daughters and their communities. They push back the oppressive demons of rebellion, drugs, immorality, abortion, gay movements etc.
An entire army was mobilized by General Barak under the prophetic cover of Mother Deborah. They routed the iron chariots of Sisera and delivered Israel from oppression. You can read up the entire story in Judges 4 and 5.
There was another warrior woman who God used to conclude the battle and her name was Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite. She welcomed Sisera and comforted him with milk, sending him to sleep. She took hold of hammer and nail and pinned his head to the ground in a death blow that marked the end of the oppressor. What a warrior-mother she was. What a strategy! God recruited mothers to do the job.
In this generation, God is still recruiting mothers to do the work of ministry wherever they are found; markets, hospitals, government offices, business centers, churches etc. No excuses are tenable. May you not fail God in your generation. It is your turn to arise and put off the light of the oppressor. It is time to arise and set the captives free.
I hear the alarm sounding loud and clear!
Let the warrior-mothers arise.
